The End of the ‘Firewall’? Mainstream German ‘Conservative’ Merz From CDU to Vote Along Alice Weidel’s AfD on Emergency Immigration Legislation After Wave of Knife Attacks
Ever since the European rightwing parties began surging up ferociously in the polls, the ‘mainstream’ parties (a.k.a. Globalists) have resorted to ‘firewalling’ the political forces that they brand as ‘far-right’.
We have seen this scheme at work in France against Marine Le Pen’s RN, in the Netherlands against Geert Wilders, in Austria against Herbert Kickl – and, of course, in Germany – against the greatest ‘bogeyman’ of all: the Alternative for Germany (AfD).
But it seems mow that Germany’s ‘firewall’ against the so-called ‘far-Right’ is crumbling, after the frontrunner to win next month’s election said he could work with the AfD to ‘tighten immigration laws’.
The Telegraph reported:
“Friedrich Merz, the conservative Christian Democrat (CDU) leader, said on Friday that his party would try to push through tough motions on migration while in opposition with the help of AfD votes in parliament.
It marks a significant about-turn for Mr. Merz, who has repeatedly vowed not to cooperate with the AfD and has long been a supporter of the ‘firewall’, which refers to mainstream parties pledging not to work with the AfD.”
The free-market liberals from the Free Democratic party (FDP) would also be open to voting with AfD for the CDU’s toiugher immigration proposals.
“Wolfgang Kubicki, FDP vice-chairman, said: ‘I don’t care who else agrees. We cannot link our approval of measures necessary for the country to who votes for us’.”
Failing outgoing Chancellor Olaf Scholz and his liberal-leftist Social Democratic party (SPD)are freaking out, saying that passing legislation with AfD support would be the end of the ‘firewall’.
“Matthias Miersch, SPD general-secretary, told Spiegel magazine: ‘This would mark the beginning of a black-blue [CDU-AFD] collaboration, of which we have always warned against’.
[…] Alice Weidel, the AfD co-leader, said: ‘The firewall has fallen! The CDU and CSU [the CDU’s Bavarian sister party] have accepted my offer to vote together with the AfD in the Bundestag on the crucial issue of migration. This is good news for our country!’”
In the wake of endless knife attacks by illegal migrants, the CDU leader presented a five-point plan to tighten immigration laws, including an entry ban for all illegals, to be turned away at the border.
