President Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), headed by Elon Musk, announced new contract terminations on Tuesday, saving American taxpayers $2.6 billion in wasteful spending.

The agency highlighted presumably the most outrageous expenses, which total over $350,000 for the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) “plant maintenance” and Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) social media programs.

Similarly, DOGE recently revealed that minor routine website maintenance for the VA cost $380,000 PER MONTH.

“That contract has not been renewed, and the same work is now being executed by 1 internal VA software engineer spending ~10 hours/week,” the department said.

According to DOGE.gov, the department has saved taxpayers an estimated $155 billion so far in asset sales, contract/lease cancellations and renegotiations, fraud and improper payment deletion, grant cancellations, interest savings, programmatic changes, regulatory savings, and workforce reductions.

This amounts to nearly $1,000 per taxpayer.

The official DOGE X account shared the update this morning:

Contract update!

Agencies terminated 180 wasteful contracts with a ceiling value of $3.3B and savings of $2.6B, including a $85.5K @EPA contract for “live plant maintenance services” (the internal EPA team will water them going forward) and a $265.5K @HHSGov contract for “social media monitoring subscription, training, and platform setup”.

Democrats are furious that Elon Musk is saving the American taxpayer from their scams and misuse of our money.

There are currently nearly a dozen lawsuits challenging DOGE over its authority, data access, and privacy laws.

There is also a secret resistance agreement between 14 states to conduct coordinated lawfare against DOGE and Elon Musk.

Musk’s role as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is formally designated as that of a Special Government Employee (SGE), a status that limits his service to 130 days within any 365-day period. His tenure is expected to end around late May 2025, when that cap is reached.

However, as The Gateway Pundit reported, President Trump may have several options if he wants to keep Musk leading DOGE past the expiration date.
