‘Progressive’ German Bishop Georg Bätzing, Known for His Extreme Globalist Positions, Attacks Trump’s Policies in Easter Vigil Sermon
While Catholics around the world are still impacted by the death of Pope Francis, there is another piece of news that’s bound to fly under the radar, but that deserves attention.
Under the late Pontiff, many ‘progressive’ clerics have been put in key positions to further transform (many will say ‘destroy’) the ancient Church teachings.
That is the case of the chairman of the German Bishops’ Conference, Georg Bätzing, a man who has supported blessing for gay couples, ordaining women priests, abolishing celibacy… all the ‘novelties’ introduced by Francis.
He also opposes ‘racism’ and ‘far-right nationalism’: he is the ugly image of a Church trying to pay lip service to all the politically correct agendas.
Now, Bätzing has come out and criticized President Donald J. Trump’s policies in harsh comments, saying that ‘the democratic structures in America are being destroyed’.
Out-of-touch Globalist Bätzing talked about how he ‘fears the transformation of the USA into an autocracy’ in his Easter Vigil sermon.

“’Since [the election of Trump], democratic structures in North America have been rebuilt in an authoritarian way, media freedom has been attacked, civil servants have been put under pressure or fired, borders have been closed, international agreements have been terminated overnight, and tariffs have been imposed on trading partners’.
‘A new style of international politics that does not shy away from lies and public humiliation is reminiscent of dark times when great powers staked out their spheres of influence with each other without regard for the sovereignty of small states and the global consequences’, Bätzing continued. ‘Europe is unprepared for an uncertain future,’ without naming Trump in his remarks.”
Infamous among conservatives for his heterodox ideas, Bätzing has also faced pushback for promoting a priest accused of sexual harassment.
As most ‘progressives’ out there, the German bishop is also a staunch defender of Ukraine, having previously condemned the US’s handling of the war as a ‘scandal’, saying that the Trump administration was ‘simply irresponsible’.
“’To try to get closer to (Russian President Vladimir) Putin now, to exert pressure up to and including extortionate measures as far as raw material supplies are concerned’, basically means largely abandoning Ukraine to the aggressor Russia. ‘This is a scandal to make it clear’.”
After cluttering his sermon with secular issues such as the war in the Ukraine, Hamas conflict with Israel and even the Coronavirus pandemic, he tried to insert some actual religious issues – but with a man like him, it just does not fly.
“Bätzing urged to take action against ‘anxiety and grief’ with the power of the Christian faith: ‘For me, the purpose of the annual Easter celebration is to help our hearts seeking support and our wavering reason to make this decision of faith’.”
