JUST IN: Judge Declares Mistrial on Remaining Rape Charge Against Weinstein Amid Drama with Jurors

On Thursday, a judge declared a mistrial for the remaining rape charge against disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein.

On Wednesday, a mixed verdict was reached in Harvey Weinstein’s MeToo retrial on Wednesday after hearing allegation from three women.

The New York jury found disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein guilty of forcibly subjecting a woman to a criminal sex act and acquitted him on count two of a criminal sex act.

The jury foreperson reported problems during the deliberations this week.

According to reports, jurors sent several notes asking questions about the allegations.

At least three jurors said other jurors were acting like high schoolers and bullying/threatening each other.

On Thursday the judge declared a mistrial on the remaining charge after the jury foreperson said he will not participate in deliberations because he felt bullied by another juror.

Fox News reported:

A New York judge declared a mistrial on the remaining rape charge against disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein after the jury foreperson said he would no longer participate in deliberations.

The decision to end deliberations came on Thursday, just one day after the jury reached a partial verdict on other charges. According to the foreperson, tensions had escalated inside the jury room.

He told the court he felt bullied by another juror and refused to rejoin the discussions.

The judge’s declaration comes after Weinstein was convicted of one of the top charges but was acquitted of another. Both charges concerned accusations of forcing oral sex on women in 2006. Weinstein has denied all charges.

Weinstein was convicted of sexual assault and rape in 2020 during the height of the #MeToo movement.

Harvey Weinstein was found guilty of rape in a Los Angeles sexual assault trial in 2022. He was also found guilty of rape in Manhattan court in 2020.

In April Weinstein’s 2020 rape conviction was overturned by the New York Appeals Court.

A panel of mostly female judges in New York’s high court overturned the conviction and said the remedy is a new trial.
