(VIDEO) President Trump Takes Questions After Returning from Scotland – Comments on New York Shooting
President Trump on Tuesday took a few questions from reporters after returning to the White House from Turnberry, Scotland.
While in Scotland, the President brokered a new trade deal with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and met with U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer, with whom he announced a trade deal in May.
President Trump took several questions, first on the deadly shooting in Midtown, Manhattan, which left five, including an off-duty cop, dead.
Earlier on Tuesday, the President addressed the situation in his hometown, calling the shooter a “crazed lunatic.”
I have been briefed on the tragic shooting that took place in Manhattan, a place that I know and love. I trust our Law Enforcement Agencies to get to the bottom of why this crazed lunatic committed such a senseless act of violence. My heart is with the families of the four people who were killed, including the NYPD Officer, who made the ultimate sacrifice. God Bless the New York Police Department, and God Bless New York!
Trump further told reporters, “It’s so bad, it’s so sad to see. It was a lunatic, and we just have to stop it.”
The President also commented on the war between Russia and Ukraine, signaling that he is “working with” Ukrainians who fled Ukraine and may let them stay until the war ends.
In response to another question about tariffs on South Korea, with the approaching August 1 tariff deadline, the President said that negotiations will not be finished by tomorrow and emphasized that tariffs are making America “very strong and rich.”

Kaitlan Collins: Any comment on New York shooting?
Trump: It’s a terrible thing, obviously. I put out a statement. It’s so bad, it’s so sad to see. It was a lunatic, and we just have to stop it. These people come in, and we never want to see a thing like that happen. And we’ve expressed our opinion very, very strongly, terrible thing.
Reporter: Will you let those Ukrainians who fled the war to stay in the United States until the war ends?
Trump: I think we will. Yeah, I think we will. We have a lot of people that came in from Ukraine, and we’re working with them.
Reporter: on tariff negitiations with South Korea, are you going to finish tomorrow?
Trump: We won’t be finished tomorrow, but our country is becoming very rich, and that’s what we want. We have to have a rich America. And we’re taking in a lot of money. We’re becoming very strong and very rich.
As The Gateway Pundit reported, President Trump took additional questions in the White House Palm Room, and responded to The Gateway Pundit’s question about potential impeachment proceedings against Obama for orchestrating the Russiagate scandal.
