BREAKING: Shooter Opens Fire During Mass at Minneapolis K-8 Catholic School Leaving Multiple Victims – Suspect Reportedly Dead – UPDATE: Officials to Provide Update at 11:30 AM ET (WATCH LIVE)

A shooting was reported this morning at Minneapolis, Minnesota’s Annunciation Church and Catholic School.

According to reports, students were attending an all-school mass on Wednesday morning when the gunfire started.

It is unclear exactly how many were injured or killed at this time.

One reporter with CBS Minnesota choked up as she recounted seeing children walk out of the school with bandages on their arms. CBS also aired a graphic that states “as many as 20” were wounded.

According to the Associated Press, a Minneapolis hospital says it is treating five children with injuries from the shooting.

The shooter is “contained,” officials say. Reports suggest that he was dressed in all black and may have killed himself.

The City of Minneapolis said on X, “There is an active police situation at Annunciation Church, 509 W. 54th St. There is no active threat to the community at this time. The shooter is contained. Stay away from the area to allow emergency personnel to help victims – W. 54th Street between Lyndale and Nicollet Ave.”

President Trump responded, “I have been fully briefed on the tragic shooting in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The FBI quickly responded and they are on the scene. The White House will continue to monitor this terrible situation. Please join me in praying for everyone involved!”

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz confirmed that he was briefed on the shooting and law enforcement is on the scene.

Mayor Jacob Frey also said he is “monitoring” the situation.

FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino said the FBI is en route to the school and will provide further updates.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives is also on the scene.

The Richfield Police Department is reporting there are up to 20 victims. “A man dressed in all black and armed with a rifle was reported at the scene,” the Richfield PD said.

The church and school are on the 500 block of West 54th Street in south Minneapolis, near the intersection of 54th and Lyndale.

The school is for kindergarten through eighth-graders. They started school on Monday. They have mass at 8:15 a.m. on Wednesdays, and students were reportedly in mass at the time of the shooting.

FOX 9 sources confirm the suspect is dead.

Officials are scheduled to hold a press conference with updates at 11:30 am ET.
