BREAKING: Federal Reserve Cuts Interest Rates by 25 Basis Points – Trump Appointee Miran Called For 50 bps Cut in Lone Dissent

Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell announced on Wednesday that the Fed will reduce interest rates by 25 basis points—or 0.25%—to 4.25%.

This is the first interest rate reduction since December 2024, and it is only a 25 basis point cut.

The Dow jumped 400 points after the Fed lowered rates and forecast two more cuts this year.

According to CNBC, Trump appointee Stephen Miran called for a 50 basis point reduction in interest rates in a lone dissent.

Miran was sworn in on Tuesday ahead of the FOMC meeting.
