Eric Trump: President Trump’s Presidential Library to Be Located in Miami Next to Iconic Freedom Tower
Eric Trump, president of the Trump presidential library foundation, announced on Tuesday the presidential library of his father President Donald J. Trump will be located in Miami, Florida, nect to the iconic Freedom Tower.
Funding for the library has come in part from tens of millions of dollar paid by media and tech companies in lawsuit settlements with President Trump for defaming him, deceptive reporting to help Kamala Harris in last year’s presidential election and for deplatforming him.

The land was owned by Miami Dade College which conveyed the property, a 2.63 acre employee parking lot appraised at over $66 million, to the state of Florida last week which then donated it to the Trump library this week after a vote by Governor Ron DeSantis (R) and other top state officials, reported Politico (excerpt)
Gov. Ron DeSantis and other state elected officials Tuesday moved ahead with an ambitious plan to deliver prime downtown Miami real estate that will be the location of President Donald Trump’s presidential library.
The quick and unanimous vote caps off a mostly off-the-radar transaction pieced together quickly and not widely known about until last week, when Miami Dade College voted to transfer the land over to the state. The same day, DeSantis announced the state would turn over the 2.63 acre parcel to the Trump presidential library foundation.
…The land being turned over is currently a parking lot adjacent to the historic Freedom Tower, which was once a processing center for Cuban refugees and recently underwent a major renovation.
…The land being handed over to the Trump foundation is seen as quite valuable, given its location right across the street from the arena used by the Miami Heat and being close to Biscayne Bay. The land transaction does place an obligation on the Trump foundation to commence construction of the library and a museum within five years.
Eric Trump: “I am extremely proud to announce a UNANIMOUS vote by the Florida Cabinet for the conveyance of land for the @realDonaldTrump Presidential Library which will be located in… MIAMI, FLORIDA! It will be the greatest Presidential Library ever built, honoring the greatest President our Nation has ever known. A large thank you to @GovRonDeSantis & @AGJamesUthmeier who have been incredible partners in this endeavor. Consistent with our families DNA, this will be one of the most beautiful buildings ever built, an Icon on the Miami skyline – – rest assured it will not look like President Obama “prison like structure.””

Press release from the Trump presidential library foundation:
Miami Dade College Selected As Official Location of the Donald J. Trump Presidential Library
Eric Trump, President of the Library Foundation, Celebrates Decision
Today, the Donald J. Trump Presidential Library Foundation celebrated the approval of a 2.63-acre site at Miami Dade College for the future library honoring the 45th and 47th President of the United States. Deeded to the Foundation by the State of Florida through a Cabinet vote, the site is located in the heart of Miami, adjacent to the iconic Freedom Tower, a landmark of liberty and resilience.
On this ground will rise a bold tribute to a leader who reshaped history and restored America’s strength. It will be the greatest presidential library ever built, honoring the greatest President our nation has known. The site selection comes just months after President Trump’s historic 13-point victory in Miami-Dade County, the first Republican to carry it since 1988. This resounding affirmation of support underscores the realignment he continues to lead.
Miami is a powerhouse of American enterprise – home to the world’s busiest cruise port, tens of millions of annual visitors, and a booming corridor of finance, trade, tourism, and technology. From legacy industries to emerging frontiers like crypto, the city reflects the dynamism and ambition that President Trump champions.
President Trump selected the location after Eric Trump and his team evaluated multiple sites across President Trump’s home state of Florida.
“No monument can fully capture the scale of my father’s legacy, but this library will stand as a tribute to the leader who reshaped history and restored America’s strength,” said Eric Trump, President of the Donald J. Trump Presidential Library Foundation. “Once completed, the Donald J. Trump Presidential Library will be visible for miles into the Atlantic, a bold landmark on Miami’s skyline and a lasting tribute to the achievements my father continues to deliver for this nation. We are deeply grateful to Governor DeSantis, Attorney General Uthmeier, CFO Ingoglia, and Commissioner Simpson for their affirmative votes and leadership in making this day possible.”
A fitting neighbor to the Trump Presidential Library, Miami’s Freedom Tower once served as a federal processing center for Cuban refugees fleeing communism, a powerful reminder of America’s role as a refuge from tyranny.
Miami Dade College is deeply woven into the fabric of this community. The college embodies the values President Trump champions: lowering the cost of education, preparing students for real-world success, and producing strong and proud Americans who make America great.

More on the Freedom Tower (excerpt):
The Freedom Tower is a rare historic constant in a city continually remaking itself. Built in 1925 as the headquarters of The Miami News, it was one of Miami’s first skyscrapers—an architectural symbol of the city’s early ambition.
From 1962 to 1974, the building served as the Cuban Refugee Center, assisting hundreds of thousands of Cubans seeking asylum in the United States. These refugees would go on to reshape Miami. After decades of disrepair, the Freedom Tower was rescued by Cuban American community leaders aiming to honor the Cuban legacy in Miami, who donated it to Miami Dade College in 2005.
In 2008, the building was designated a National Historic Landmark. Since then, it has continued to serve as a hub for culture, education, and civic engagement—hosting the Miami Book Fair, Miami Film Festival, Live Arts Miami, and the Museum of Art and Design. The Freedom Tower stands as a tribute to the generations who built Miami and an inspiration for the city’s future. The story of the Freedom Tower is the story of Miami.
The Miami Herald, predictably, had a fit over the Trump library (excerpt):
And just like that, in a matter of a week, the state of Florida publicly proposed and approved giving away taxpayer-owned land in downtown Miami — worth $67 million — to Donald Trump’s presidential library foundation, with few questions asked, few restrictions and little to no public input on a topic that’s certain to drive passionate debate in South Florida.
…The Herald reported that the only restriction imposed by the state on the property transfer is that “within five years of the date of conveyance, the subject property contains components of a Presidential library, museum, and/or center or that construction has commenced.” Is this the best our state leaders, who wave the flag of fiscal responsibility while sending the Florida DOGE hunting for questionable spending by local government, could deliver?
…Trump’s library should give an honest account of his presidency — including his impeachments and Jan. 6 — not just the glorified highlights the president and his supporters want Americans to remember. We highly doubt that will happen. This is the same Trump who has tried to recast the Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol invasion as a patriotic field trip and whose administration is trying to rewrite American history by, for example, ordering the removal of exhibits and materials related to the history of slavery from national parks.
…Florida, no doubt, is Trump country — now we will have a presidential library to prove it.
