WATCH: “Is He a Mexican American?” – VP Vance Savages Hakeem Jeffries’ Outrage and Cries of Racism Over Sombrero Memes – “If You Help Us Reopen the Government, the Sombrero Memes will Stop!”
Vice President JD Vance spoke to reporters on Wednesday in the White House Press Briefing Room, where he was confronted with questions about President Trump’s use of Memes to troll House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.
Vance promised that the memes would stop if they reopened the government and addressed allegations of racism.
The AI-generated memes that Trump posted depict Jeffries in a cartoonized mustache and wearing a Sombrero hat after he and Schumer met with Trump at the White House. Trump was mocking the Democratic Party’s obsession with illegal immigration as a voter-replacement scheme.
A reporter accused the Vice President of not showing signs of good faith negotiations, and he responded with fire. “I’ll tell Hakeem Jeffries right now, I make this solemn promise to you that if you help us reopen the government, the Sombrero memes will stop,” he said as the room erupted in laughter.
WATCH:
Reporter: The President has been posting some images of Leader Jeffries and Senator Schumer recently. You said that you’re interested in good faith negotiations with these leaders. But what message does that send? Is it helpful to post pictures of leader Jeffries in a Sombrero if you’re trying to have good faith talks with him?
Vance: Oh, I think it’s funny. The President’s joking, and we’re having a good time. You can negotiate in good faith while also poking a little bit of fun at some of the absurdities of the Democrats positions, and even, you know, poking some fun at the absurdity of the Democrats themselves. I’ll tell Hakeem Jeffries right now, I make this solemn promise to you that if you help us reopen the government the Sombrero memes will stop. I’ve talked to the President of the United States about that.
But Jeffries, a black guy, ran crying to the leftist media, calling it a “disgusting video,” accusing Trump of “bigotry that will get you nowhere.” These people can’t take a joke. This is why comedy is no longer actually funny.
Later, when Vance was asked to respond to Jeffries’ claims of “bigotry” and racism, he poked more fun at Jeffries.
“Is he a Mexican American that is offended by having a Sombrero meme?” Vance rhetorically asked while questioning to the mainstream media’s apparent need to clarify that it was not a real photo. “We’re all trying to do a very important job for the American people. The President United States likes to have a little bit of fun when he’s doing it, and I think that’s ok.”
WATCH:
Reporter: You said that the President is joking, but Hakeem Jeffrey says that these, you know, these memes were racist. What’s your response to that?
Vance: Hakeem Jeffries said it was racist, and I know that he said that, and I honestly don’t even know what that means. Like, is he a Mexican American that is offended by having a Sombrero meme? I saw one of the major TV stations put the meme up and then say, “this is AI-generated.” And he had, like, the curly animated mustache too. It’s like the American people— do you really not realize the American people recognize that he did not actually come to the White House wearing a sombrero in a black curly animation mustache like, give the country a little bit of credit. We’re all trying to do a very important job for the American people. The President United States likes to have a little bit of fun when he’s doing it, and I think that’s ok.
As The Gateway Pundit reported, President Trump also responded to Jeffries’ claims of racism— with another meme! This time, however, clones of Trump were scene in the background playing mariachi music.
