Jeff Bezos Says Millions of People Will be Living in Space ‘in the Next Couple of Decades’ (VIDEO)
Jeff Bezos, the billionaire founder of Amazon and rocket company Blue Origin, has said that millions of people will be living in space “in the next couple of decades.”
Speaking at Italian Tech Week in Turin, Italy, on Friday, Bezos outlined a vision of outer space habitats supported by advanced robotics and data centers, emphasizing that this transition could happen faster than many anticipate.
In an interview with John Elkann, chairman of Ferrari and Stellantis, Bezos said space pioneers will “mostly be living there because they want to.”
This is because he believes, “robots will be more capable and cost-effective than working in space,” according to a report from the Financial Times.

As The Gateway Pundit previously reported, Bezos predicts that vast solar-powered AI data centers will be built in space.
“It’s hard to know exactly when—it’s 10 plus years, but I bet it’s not more than 20 years—we’re going to start building these giant gigawatt data centers in space,” he said.
“So these giant training clusters, those will be better built in space because we have solar power there, 24/7. And the solar power there, there are no clouds, no rain, no weather,” he added. “We will be able to beat the cost of terrestrial data centers in space in the next couple of decades.”
Bezos added that natural cooling in the vacuum of space would eliminate the need for water-intensive systems used on Earth, and data could be transmitted via lasers.
“It’s already happened with weather and communication satellites. The next step is data centres, then other kinds of manufacturing,” he explained.
These facilities would power the explosive growth in artificial intelligence, and address the enormous energy demands that are straining Earth’s power grids.
Bezos’s remarks highlight a long-held vision for space colonization, which he has championed through Blue Origin, the aerospace company he founded in 2000.
Unlike rival Elon Musk’s focus on Mars settlement, which he has projected will have a million residents by 2050, Bezos advocates for Earth-orbiting structures that could provide Earth-like gravity through rotation.
Bezos concluded his appearance by saying, “There has never been a better time to be excited about the future.”
