Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson has responded to the incident on a Chicago train this week, where a man with 49 prior arrests doused a woman in flammable liquid and set her on fire.

The man, 50-year-old Lawrence Reed, had previously been incarcerated multiple times and charged with at least 10 felonies. He was further arrested at least 13 times since 2017.

Reed repeatedly shouted, “Burn b*tch!” after setting the victim ablaze.

While speaking to reporters this week, Johnson said, “I don’t see this as some sort of trend,” while calling for the federal government to “do its part.” Meanwhile, Johnson has refused President Trump’s attempts to send federal authorities and National Guard troops to stop violent criminals in Chicago.

Despite claims that this is “isolated” and not a trend, this comes after another recent incident, where a man stabbed a 27-year-old woman in the chest earlier this month on a Chicago train platform.

And clearly, it’s becoming a trend in liberal cities. It can be recalled that a Guatemalan illegal alien similarly doused a woman in flammable liquid before setting her on fire on a New York subway last year.

Johnson’s solution is apparently to invest more in public transportation, hailing himself as the savior.

“I’m doing my part to ensure that these investments are getting right to the people,” he said.

WATCH:

Johnson: All I can say is, as awful and as horrific as this tragedy is, this is an isolated incident. As we continue to invest more in our public transportation system, we want people to feel safe as they ride. And so many working people rely on our public transportation system across the city, and that’s why I’m doing my part to ensure that these investments are getting right to the people so that, of course, people can continue to enjoy.

This is an isolated incident. I mean I don’t see this as some sort of trend. And again, the level of accountability that has to happen in this moment, you know, I trust that the federal level will do its part.

The Gateway Pundit reported on the incident and Lawrence Reed’s extensive criminal record.
