With Allies Like These, Who Needs Enemies? €8 Billion Tax Funded German ARD TV Slandered President Trump Just Like BBC – HEADS MUST ROLL

Time to hold our so-called “allies” who spread lies about the U.S. government responsible: After the Director and Editor-in-Chief of the BBC had to step down over a manipulated documentary trying to portray President Trump as calling for violence on J6, a new report shows German public broadcaster ARD did exactly the same thing – without suffering any consequences so far.
“Germany’s public television has been worse than the BBC”, wrote former US ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell. “It’s time to hold them accountable, too.”
On November 3, the British “Telegraph” reported that BBC’s flagship new magazine “Panorama” hat manipulatively edited footage of President Donald Trump’s speech before the White House on January 6, 2021, making it appear Trump had called on his hundreds of thousands of supporters in DC that day to march to the Capitol to “fight like hell,” when in fact he said he would walk with them “to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard”.
As a result, BBC director-general Tim Davie and head of news Deborah Turness resigned on November 9, and the BBC issued a formal apology to President Trump, who has said he will sue the Beeb for $5 billion in damages in Florida court.
However, The Gateway Pundit can reveal this is only the tip of the iceberg, as far as our “allies’” state-funded media knifing the U.S. President in the back out of sheer hatred goes.
The German ARD “First Television” aired almost exactly the same manipulative edit in a documentary entitled “Storm on the Capitol” Jan. 6, 2022, as Swiss “Weltwoche” magazine wrote.
At 00:05:11 in the documentary, it shows President Trump speaking outside the White House just after 12 pm Jan 6., saying “We will never give up, we will never concede. It doesn’t happen. You don’t concede when there’s theft involved. … (edit) Now, it is up to Congress to confront this egregious assault on our democracy. And after this, we’re going to walk down, … (edit) to the Capitol, and I’ll be there with you.” (dubbed in German voice-over)
Then the documentary cuts to a statement by reporter Tayler Hansen of The Gateway Pundit, which it smears as a “far-right website”.
Then the documentary cuts back to President Trump: “Because you’ll never take back our country with weakness. You have to show strength and you have to be strong.”
Then, as in the BBC documentary, the German ARD documentary “Storm on the Capitol” purposefully leaves out Trump’s next word, demanding that “Congress do the right thing and only count the electors who have been lawfully slated. I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.”
Instead, as in the BBC scandal, the German doc splices in President Trump’s statement of an hour later (when the disturbance in the Capitol was already underway, before Trump had even finished speaking): “And we fight. We fight like hell. And if you don’t fight like hell, you’re not going to have a country anymore.”
This is virtually exactly the same manipulative device over which the BBC director and editor-in-chief had to step down.
However, so far, Germany’s largest public broadcaster ARD, which is funded with €8 billion ($9.2 billon) in mandatory household fees a year (a tax in all but name), stands by their fake news “documentary”.
In response to a query from Weltwoche magazine, South West German Broadcasting (SWR), which produced the fake doc, saw “no misleading or shortening”, and claimed the Trump quotes “did not serve the purpose of a […] summary of the speech”, but were intended “to illustrate the mood of the crowd.” The missing sentence is “of no relevance,” SWR claimed, outrageously.
The German public broadcaster rejected any criticism and instead called a comparison between their documentary and the original Trump speech potentially “misleading”, claiming their own reporting meets “established standards of the journalistic trade”.
Responding to a summary of German fake news by reporters Felix Perrefort and Claudio Casula on conserative news site NIUS, former US ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell said “Germany’s public television has been worse than the BBC. It’s time to hold them accountable too.”

Writing in English for the benefit of a US audience, Perrefort and Casula cite numerous examples of blatantly biased anti-Trump and anti-American reporting on German public broadcasters, such as artificially turning up boos during Trump’s Davos speech 2018, claiming candidate Trump called for a “Bloodbath” during the 2024 campaign, and claiming Trump called illegal migrants “animals” when he was referring to MS-13 gang members.
Perrefort and Casula also cite a hot mike incident during the 2025 inauguration, when the interpreter assigned to the 47th President of the United States was heard to utter, “Tell me, how long are we going to stick with this shit?”
“Apparently, no less-Trump-hostile colleague had been available,” Perrefort and Casula write.
The article goes on to cite numerous other examples of blatantly partisan coverage of the United States President (who provides for Europe’s defense), including “endless comparisons of Trump with Hitler, Nazis and fascists”, they write.
Second German Television (ZDF) Washington correspondent Elmar Thevessen is also notorious for his anti-MAGA and anti-Trump reporting: “Personally, I consider him a fascist who, as an authoritarian ruler, wants to destroy American democracy with a wrecking ball,” Thevessen said.
Thevessen wrote a book with the title: “The Destruction of America: How Donald Trump Is Changing His Country and the World Forever.”
After the assassination of Charlie Kirk, Thevessen outrageously claimed that Kirk wanted to have homosexuals stoned to death, leading Ric Grenell to call for Thevessen’s US visa to be revoked as a “radical leftist” who incites violence against people with different opinions.
Despite this legion of deliberately hateful anti-American propaganda, no one at German public broadcasting has taken any responsibility. We believe the White House should crack down hard until heads roll at the executive level. Otherwise, who needs to pay for NATO countries that only want to stab us in the back?
