HEARTBREAKING: Female National Guard Member NOT Expected to Recover, Father Says: “She Has a Mortal Wound”
One National Guardsman, 20-year-old Army Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, who was shot on Wednesday in Washington, DC, is not expected to recover, Beckstrom’s father said.
“I’m holding her hand right now,” Gary Beckstrom said. “She has a mortal wound. It’s not going to be a recovery.”

He reportedly used a .357 revolver handgun to execute the attack.

The father of Sarah Beckstrom, one of the wounded National Guard members, said his daughter was unlikely to recover. “I’m holding her hand right now,” Gary Beckstrom said when reached by phone. “She has a mortal wound. It’s not going to be a recovery.” He declined to talk further. Beckstrom and the other wounded Guard soldier, Andrew Wolfe, are in critical condition, officials have said.
The injured soldiers were identified as Air Force Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe, 24, and Army Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, members of the West Virginia National Guard. Specialist Beckstrom’s father said in a brief interview that she had a “mortal wound” and was unlikely to recover. A man who answered the phone at Sergeant Wolfe’s home asked for “prayers for my son,” but would not speak further.
The Gateway Pundit reported that the two National Guard members were shot near the White House on Wednesday, causing the White House to come under lockdown.

The suspect was later identified as 29-year-old Afghan national Rahmanullah Lakanwal, who entered the country under Biden in 2021. Lakanwal’s permission to be in the US expired in September 2025, and he has been living in the United States illegally ever since. The alien entered under Biden’s “Operation Allies Welcome” program following the botched 2021 Afghanistan withdrawal.
President Trump responded to the incident late on Wednesday night, addressing the nation from his Mar-a-Lago home. Trump initially responded earlier, stating that the suspect is also “severely wounded,” along with the military members he shot.

On Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving, two National Guardsmen were shot in Washington, DC, in a terrorist attack that some Democrats are now blaming on President Trump’s deployment of National Guard troops in DC.
The suspect was identified as 29-year-old Afghan national Rahmanullah Lakanwal, a Biden illegal alien from Afghanistan, who entered under Biden’s “Operation Allies Welcome” program following the disastrous 2021 Afghanistan withdrawal.
US Attorney Jeanine Pirro said earlier that the two members of the National Guard are still in the hospital, in critical condition with their family members.
