“During a meeting broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión, the president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, surprised by bringing forward the New Year. The president presented the ‘Plan 2026’, a proposal that contemplates a series of political and social objectives, with the purpose, he indicated, of moving towards a more prosperous and peaceful nation.
In the middle of his speech, Maduro indicated that his country had already entered next year: ‘2026 has already begun, today is 2026. It started early because everything we do now will allow us to go shooting in the construction of the homeland when January 1 dawns’, he said.
So far, no official information has been issued that clarifies whether this measure is institutional in nature or is simply a symbolic statement. However, it is not the first time that the head of state has modified dates in advance. In October of this year, for example, he decided to bring forward the celebration of Christmas.”
