One person was killed on Saturday morning when a U-Haul truck exploded.

The explosion occurred around 7:15 a.m. in a retail parking lot near an Old Navy location in Lewiston, Idaho, not far from Washington State.

Early findings show that the explosion was most likely an accident.

One person is dead following a U-Haul truck explosion early Saturday morning, authorities said.

The blast happened around 7:15 a.m. in the parking lot of an Old Navy store in Lewiston, Idaho, just across the border from Washington state.

Preliminary findings suggest the blast was accidental.

“Investigators say the truck appeared to be carrying stored materials, including gasoline and propane tanks, according to a joint statement from the Lewiston Police Department and Lewiston Fire Department.” Fox News reported.

Julian Sorrell, the Fire Marshall of Lewiston had explained that there did not appear to be any criminal intent with the information they currently had.

The explosion was very powerful and did some damage to businesses, which included the Courtyard Marriott and Old Navy. According to officials, no fire erupted after the explosion.

According to officials, there was no danger to the public. Officials did say for the public to avoid the area so authorities can complete their work.

Numerous agencies including the Lewiston Police Department, the Lewiston Fire Department, the Idaho State Police, and city and county officials worked together to investigate the incident and secure the scene.

At this time, the investigation remains open.
