Holocaust Survivor and Young Child Among Victims in Terror Attack on Sydney Hanukkah Celebration

The Gateway Pundit reported on the horrific attack carried out against Jewish beachgoers who were celebrating Hanukkah in Sydney, Australia.

As reported by The Daily Mail, two men stepped out of a vehicle on Campbell Parade, near Bondi Pavilion, and opened fire at Bondi Beach at roughly 6.40 pm on Sunday. Witnesses report that more than 30 shots were fired.

More than 40 people were injured in the attack, and at least 15 were killed.

Australian authorities have confirmed that the victims range in age from 10 to 87.

The New York Post reports that the youngest victim has been identified as a 10-year-old girl named Mailda.

The youngest victim was identifed as 10-year-old Mailda, according to a GoFundMe set up by her language teacher.

“I was Mailda’s language teacher, and I knew her as a bright, joyful, and spirited child who brought light to everyone around her. Yesterday, while celebrating Hanukkah, her young life was tragically taken. Her memory will live on in our hearts,” wrote Irina Goodhew.

Alex Kleytman was a Holocaust survivor and was killed while trying to protect his wife of 50 years.

Kleytman survived the mechanized murder of millions of Jews in World War II, but was gunned down while protecting his wife in the land where he fled for refuge years ago.

Two religious leaders, Rabbi Eli Schlanger and Rabbi Yaakov Levitan, were also among those murdered.

One of the gunmen was identified as 24-year-old Naveed Sajid Akram and he was in Australia on a tourist visaAkram. According to the Daily Mail, Akram was shot, arrested, and remains in custody, where emergency services are treating him.

The second shooter, who was killed at the scene, is reportedly Naveed’s 50-year old father,  Sajid Akram, and was in Australia on a tourist visa.
