It was a beautiful day in DC on Wednesday. A brisk chill was in the air, far from the cold of the previous week.

Christmas is just barely a week away, and it seems there is no shortage of gloom and doom stories in the news and on social media.

This story seeks to bring you Joy and hope in our country and military.

As new members of the Department of War Press Corps, The Gateway Pundit was invited to attend and report on the First Christmas Worship Service at the Pentagon. We happily RSVP’d to be there and bring the experience to our readers.

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth made it a priority to bring God to the forefront of the military and began a monthly worship service after taking office. On December 3, the Pentagon hosted a Christmas tree lighting ceremony in its courtyard, which TGP also attended.

On Wednesday, in the courtyard, as military personnel, family members, and guests found their seats for the worship service, they were serenaded with beautifully played Christmas music performed by members of the Air Force.

Once everyone was seated, the ceremony was started with a Welcome and Invocation by Rear Admiral Cary N. Cash, Chaplain, US Navy.

Popular Christian Musician/ Singer Matthew West took the stage next and led the audience in praise and song with “Joy to the World”. He then brought up on stage Grammy-nominated Christian singer/ songwriter Anne Wilson.

According to the program, Secretary Hegseth was to take the stage for remarks and prayer. However, Jennifer Hegseth, the Secretary’s wife, was brought up instead.

She explained her husband’s absence and why she was standing before the crowd instead of him. She also made sure everyone knew that he was hoping to be able to make it if he could.

Hegseth was in Delaware performing the hardest duty he is tasked with. He was with President Trump, Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds, leaders of the Iowa National Guard and the families of the two soldiers who were killed in Syria on December 13th, overseeing the dignified transfer of their remains. Iowa National Guard soldiers Sgt. William Nathaniel Howard, 29, Edgar Brian Torres-Tovar, 25, and civilian interpreter Ayad Mansoor Sakat, 54, were brought home Wednesday to Dover Air Force Base.

She then acknowledged two members of President Trump’s cabinet, Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins and Secretary of Labor Lori Chavez-DeRemer, both of whom have been inspired by the worship services held at The Pentagon.

Secretary Chavez-DeRemer initiated a monthly worship service at the Department of Labor, and Secretary Rollins conducts a Bible study for cabinet members every week.

Before she left the stage, Jennifer thanked Matthew West and Anne Wilson for coming and then made a special introduction of the next speaker, Franklin Graham, as well as his son Edward Graham, saying she thinks of them as “The Special Forces of Jesus.”

Reverend Graham came to the podium and recited stories from the Old and New Testaments, then led the audience in The Lord’s Prayer.

Anne Wilson retook the stage and unselfishly gave a testimony of how the holiday season is hard for her and her family after the passing of her older brother in 2017.

She performed her original song, “Just Because it’s Christmas,” and completely captured the crowd with another of her original songs, “My Jesus.”

The last song she performed had been requested by Secretary Hegseth, his favorite Christmas song, “Oh Holy Night.”

While Wilson was singing this beautiful classic Christmas song, Sec. Hegseth joined the audience, then took the stage once the song concluded. He delivered a brief Christmas message and then offered the Benediction to conclude the service.

It was a beautiful worship service and clearly appreciated by the men and women of the Pentagon. The Lord was present because Secretary Hegseth has invited Him and welcomed Him in.

May everyone have a Blessed and Merry Christmas. May God Bless the members of our military and May God Bless the United States of America.
