A race-baiting Black Lives Matter Activist who once accused police officers of racism and violence has experienced an ironic twist of fate.
As ABC 33/40 news reported, 43-year-old Eric Hall, a co-founder of Birmingham, Alabama’s Black Lives Matter chapter, was arrested last week on domestic assault charges
Jail records obtained the outlet show that Hall was charged with a misdemeanor for assault-domestic and simple assault- family.
Hall ran for the Birmingham School Board earlier this year. He advanced to the runoff before getting stomped by Yamika Foy.
Foy secured 70% of the vote, defeating Hall 1,126 to 485.
Hall also co-signed a letter which sounds like he had a self-interested reason why police should be defunded.
Correct practices within the Birmingham Police Department. Police already have the largest share of the city’s resources, far beyond what is justified—more than they will ever need.
Redirect existing funds to ensure that anyone on payroll receives comprehensive preparation in disability awareness, de-escalation, cultural competency, mental health response, and community engagement, reinforced by strict, enforceable standards.
Unsurprisingly, Hall claims this was all a misunderstanding. He told WBRC in an interview after being released from prison on bail that he contacted law enforcement because he believed a friend staying with him was intoxicated and experiencing a mental health episode.
Instead, police arrested Hall.
Hall also whined to WBRC about what he called “inhumane” conditions.
“Some who don’t even have access to a simple sink are forced to use toilet water to simply take a simple wash up,” Hall whimpered. “These conditions are inhumane, and everyone deserves to live with dignity and respect, regardless of whatever criminal charges or whatever the city or the state has imposed on our people.”
To correct this, Hall is begging city officials to prioritize “humane treatment and accountability” for those in the jail.
Hall previously accused police officers of racism and violence in response to the shooting death of 18-year-old Jabari Latrell Peoples by a Homewood police officers over the summer. Peoples had pointed a gun at the officers.
“Disruption brings about awareness, and Homewood has a history of discrimination and ill practices toward minority communities,” hall said at the time. “The purpose and reason for us being there is to let them know that — one, we’re watching — and two, we’re demanding accountability as relates to what’s being done in the city of Homewood.”
