SHOCK VIDEO: Small Plane Pulling Advertising Banner Crashes Into Sea in Rio’s Copacabana Beach

Beach day turned tragic in Rio.

With summer firing from all cylinders, Rio de Janeiro is sizzling, to the delight of the millions of tourists who flock to some of its famous beaches, such as Copacabana.

But this last weekend, tragedy struck as a small plane towing an advertising banner crashed into the sea, killing the pilot.

Associated Press reported:

“The pilot’s body was sent to a medical examiner’s office for identification, officials said.”

“Fire department rescue teams were working at the site using Jet Skis, inflatable boats, divers and aerial support. The search also includes sonar equipment to help locate possible additional victims and wreckage.

[…] The Brazilian air force said that it opened an investigation into the cause of the crash. The aircraft was a Cessna 170A owned by an advertising company.”

Storyful reported:

“The plane was carrying an advertising banner, and it was the first time the pilot, who was the only occupant, had flown that type of aircraft, according to Bernardo Rubião, the deputy mayor of Rio’s South Zone.

The victim was identified by police as Luiz Ricardo Leite de Amorim and his body was recovered from the water after a two-hour search, reports said.”
