Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has become one of President Trump’s most effective communicators and showcased this today with a complete bludgeoning of disgraced California Governor Gavin Newsom at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, Newsom had a full-blown meltdown over President Trump during an impromptu interview with reporters in Davos on Tuesday.

The Democrat governor blasted European leaders and demanded they “stand up” to President Trump after a reporter asked him about their reaction to Trump’s position on Greenland.

“It’s time to buck up, it’s time to get serious and stop being complicit,” Newsom said.

“It’s time to stand tall and firm and have a backbone. I’ve seen this in the United States. A supine Congress playing both sides… It’s time to stand strong,” he said.

Bessent clearly found it curious that Newsom was in Davos to begin with and had him firmly on his mind when it was his turn to speak.

Once he did, Bessent dropped the line of the day and completely destroyed Newsom.

“I think it’s very, very ironic that Governor Newsom, who strikes me as Patrick Bateman meets Sparkle Beach Ben, may be the only Californian who knows less about economics than Kamala Harris,” Bessent quipped.

Bessent continued to roast Newsom, taunting him for being at Davos with “his billionaire sugar daddy, Alex Soros.”

The Treasury Secretary went on to note how fitting it was that Newsom was at Davos, considering he put everyone on lockdown during COVID and arrested folks for going to church, while he dined unmasked at a fancy restaurant.

Bessent then warned Newsom that the Trump Administration was coming to California to crack down on waste, fraud, and abuse, then taunted him for not speaking at the forum.

He closed his speech by noting that Newsom’s many failures as California governor were the reason he avoided speaking.
