Minnesota Governor Tim Walz is begging supporters of President Donald Trump to switch sides and support the left in its battle against ICE.

Walz made the plea during a press conference at the State Emergency Operations Center in Blaine, addressing the fatal shooting of 37-year-old armed agitator Alex Jeffrey Pretti by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents in Minneapolis the previous day.

During the briefing, Walz pleaded with Trump supporters to “jump ship” and join Democrats in opposing the federal crackdown.

“You’re allowed to decide at any point that you are not with this anymore,” Walz said. “If you voted for the administration, heck even if you thought Operation Metro Surge was a good idea and sounded like something we could do about it a month ago, you’re still allowed to look at what’s happening here in Minnesota and say this isn’t what I wanted or what I want.”

The governor urged attendees to “speak out, share what you see, urge others, put politics aside.”

Walz also outrageously claimed, “We all want secure borders and immigration enforcement that prioritizes criminals,” though his actions show that is not the case.

Minnesota’s sanctuary policies, under his leadership, have long hindered federal immigration efforts.

The leftist governor praised local press for highlighting Minnesota’s approach but criticized federal actions as lacking “common sense, lawful or humane” methods.

Violence and chaos have been escalating in Minneapolis since the shooting.

On Saturday, a protester bit the finger off of a federal officer. It could not be reattached.

Another individual was arrested for allegedly sabotaging law enforcement vehicles with homemade caltrops.

DHS has repeatedly warned about a surge in violence against its officers, attributing it to “radical rhetoric” from sanctuary politicians.

In a statement earlier this month, DHS reported an unprecedented 1,300% increase in assaults on ICE officers and a 3,200% increase in vehicular attacks compared to previous years.

“The hateful rhetoric and resistance against men and women who are simply trying to do their jobs must end. Federal law enforcement officers are facing a more than 1,300% increase in assaults against them as they put their lives on the line to arrest criminals and lawbreakers,” the department said in a statement.
