FALLING FROZEN IGUANAS: Cold Snap in Florida Has Lizards Getting Into a Coma-Like State and Dropping From Trees (VIDEOS)

They’re cold blooded, but not THAT cold.
The extremely cold temperatures hitting this winter in the northern hemisphere is affecting states where is usually much warmer, such as Florida.
There, it’s so chilly that it’s raining… iguanas.
Yes, you read it right: tens of thousands of iguanas were frozen solid by cold temperatures in the Sunshine State and begun literally dropping from trees.
The Telegraph reported:
“Florida is experiencing record low temperatures, with the mercury touching -4C in Orlando – the lowest recorded in February since at least 1923.
As a result, the cold-blooded reptiles have been immobilized and are falling to the pavement in huge numbers.”

Locals are taking the reptiles to ‘collection sites’ to be ‘humanely euthanized’ or sold outside the state.
“The state’s wildlife agency said it collected more than 2,000 cold-stunned green iguanas after announcing a two-day removal event during the ongoing cold snap.”

Iguanas run wild in Florida but cannot be owned without a permit.
Col Roger Young, the FWC executive director: “It’s the first time we’ve ever done this for the iguana executive order. We figured we’d take advantage of this cold weather to try to help the landscape of Florida.”
