JUST IN: President Trump and Vice President Vance Speak Out Following the Death of Pope Francis

President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance have weighed regarding the sad passing of Pope Francis early this morning.
As Jim Hoft reported, Pope Francis (born Jorge Mario Bergoglio), the first Latin American pontiff, died early Monday morning at the age of 88. His passing came after battling a serious health issue.
In February, Francis, long criticized by conservatives for steering the Church into left-wing political activism rather than defending tradition and morality, began suffering from a serious respiratory infection, which eventually developed into double pneumonia—an aggressive infection that inflames both lungs.
A Vatican statement confirmed that the pope underwent a chest CAT scan, revealing the onset of double pneumonia.
The statement added, “polymicrobial infection, which has arisen in the context of bronchiectasis and asthmatic bronchitis, and has required the use of corticosteroid and antibiotics, makes the therapeutic treatment more complex.”
On Easter Sunday morning, just a day before his death, Pope Francis held a brief private meeting with Vance at the Casa Santa Marta shortly after 11:30 a.m. According to the Holy See Press Office, the meeting lasted only a few minutes and served as an opportunity to exchange Easter greetings.
Vance, a devout Catholic, issued a poignant statement on Truth Social regarding Francis’s passing, the meeting they had, and what he would always remember Francis for.
“I just learned of the passing of Pope Francis,” Vance wrote. “My heart goes out to the millions of Christians all over the world who loved him.”
“I was happy to see him yesterday, though he was obviously very ill,” he added. “But I’ll always remember him for the below homily he gave in the very early days of COVID. It was really quite beautiful.”
“May God rest his soul.”

Trump’s statement, issued a short time ago, was much shorter though quite heartfelt as well.
“Rest in Peace Pope Francis!” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “May God Bless him and all who loved him!”
