Disgusting: Mets Announcer Gary Cohen Criticizes Cubs Star for Attending Memorial for His Friend Charlie Kirk

Mets broadcaster Gary Cohen’s commentary during the Cubs vs. Mets game devolved as he slammed Cubs star Matt Shaw for taking time away from the field to attend a memorial for his friend Charlie Kirk, an invitation that reportedly came directly from Charlie’s widow Erika.

Charlie was an avid Cubs fan.

TPUSA Spokesman and Executive Producer of The Charlie Kirk Show shared last week, “Thank you to the @Cubs for honoring Charlie Kirk. As a Chicago boy, he was a lifelong Cubs fan. Just a few weeks ago, he got to walk the field and shake the hands of some of the players after a 4-3 win for his hometown team.”

Cohen could not find it in himself to muster a single word about Kirk’s assassination, yet somehow felt moved to criticize a man for mourning his friend calling the decision “weird.”

Cohen said during the broadcast while Shaw was up to bat, “Shaw had Cubs world in a tizzy this weekend when he was not here for a Cubs game with the Reds and they lost 1-0 which his lack of presence was felt.”

“It was later revealed he was given permission to attend Charlie Kirk’s funeral.”

“I don’t want to talk about any of the politics of it, but the thought of leaving your team in the middle of a race for any reason other than a family emergency, really strikes me as weird.”

Watch:

What is weird is criticizing a man for honoring his friend.
