Zohran Mamdani Protested Biden—Yet Still Won the Endorsements of Jeffries and Hochul

Zohran Mamdani has never hidden his contempt for the mainstream Democrat Party.

A self-described socialist, he has consistently pushed positions that run directly against the values of moderates, Jewish Americans, and pro-Israel voters.

The clearest example came during the Gaza conflict, when former President Joe Biden stood with Israel against Hamas terror.

Mamdani did not just disagree quietly. He joined demonstrations against Biden, attacking U.S. support for Israel and accusing the administration of enabling “war crimes.”

This is not the record of a loyal Democrat. When the leader of your party is defending a key American ally under fire, most officials rally around him.

Mamdani chose instead to march in protest, aligning himself with anti-Israel activists who openly called for a “global intifada.”

He later claimed he would stop using the phrase only after it sparked outrage from Jewish leaders who recognized it as a call for violence.

That episode revealed not just poor judgment, but hostility toward the very alliance that has anchored American foreign policy for decades.

Yet despite this radical record, Mamdani has been embraced by the Democrat establishment.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries—long considered a reliable pro-Israel voice—endorsed him in the mayor’s race.

Governor Kathy Hochul, who once criticized Mamdani’s rhetoric, eventually followed suit.

The endorsements are a political paradox: two of the state’s most powerful Democrats throwing their weight behind a candidate who publicly protested their own president for supporting Israel.

For Republicans, this development underscores how far the Democrat Party has drifted.

The party that once prided itself on being a bipartisan defender of Israel is now elevating candidates who undermine that very relationship.

The fact that Jeffries and Hochul felt compelled to endorse Mamdani, despite his record, shows the influence the socialist wing holds over the Democrat machine.

It also sends a dangerous message to Jewish New Yorkers—that their concerns can be brushed aside if they conflict with the party’s internal politics.

The Biden administration, for all its flaws, at least affirmed Israel’s right to self-defense.

But Mamdani and his allies would rather strip military aid, pressure Israel into concessions, and appease activists who equate self-defense with oppression.

When top Democrats endorse him anyway, it becomes clear that the party’s commitment to Israel is eroding from within.

Mamdani’s protest against Biden revealed his true priorities. The fact that leaders like Jeffries and Hochul would reward him with endorsements should alarm every pro-Israel voter.

It is a warning sign of where the Democrat Party is headed, and why Republicans must stand firm in defense of America’s closest ally in the Middle East.
