DC US Attorney Jeanine Pirro speaks at news conference following National Guard shooting in Washington, DC

US Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro on Thursday told reporters that the suspect in the horrific attack on two National Guardsmen in Washington, DC may face death penalty charges.

The Thanksgiving news conference was held by DC officials, Pirro, and FBI Director Kash Patel after a Biden illegal alien from Afghanistan ambushed two National Guard troops stationed in DC to make the city safe.

If the troops succumb to their injuries, Pirro says, the shooter will be charged with murder in the first degree, which may carry the death penalty.

He is currently being charged with “three counts of assault with intent to kill while armed” and “possession of a firearm during a crime of violence,” facing at least 15 years in prison, Pirro said.

He should be executed regardless– publicly.

WATCH:

Pirro: The charges that are appropriate right now are three counts of assault with intent to kill while armed, a violation of DC, code 22-401, and DC code 22-4502. He will also be charged with possession of a firearm during a crime of violence. He faces 15 years under the assault with the intent to kill. We intend to continue monitoring what the charges will be, depending upon the well-being of the Guardsmen.

We are praying that they survive and that the highest charge will not have to be murder in the first degree. But make no mistake, if they do not that will certainly be the charge, murder in the first degree.

Later, a reporter questioned Pirro on anger over the situation, directed at President Trump. If it weren’t for Trump’s executive orders establishing a DC Safe and Beautiful Task Force, declaring a crime emergency in Washington, DC, and deploying National Guard Troops to stop criminals, the reporter suggested, “the National Guard members should not even have been there.”

We ought to kiss the ground and thank God that the President said it’s time to bring in more law enforcement to make sure that this city that had the fourth highest homicide rate in the country, that that violence was quelled,” Pirro responded.

“I’m not even going to go there!”

Reporter: There are people also upset with the President, believing that the National Guard members should not even have been there if it were not for the executive order.

Pirro: I don’t even want to talk about whether they should have been there. We ought to kiss the ground and thank God that the President said it’s time to bring in more law enforcement to make sure that this city that had the fourth highest homicide rate in the country, that that violence was quelled. I’m not even going to go there!

The attack occurred at approximately 2:15 pm ET on the eve of Thanksgiving.

Officers could be seen tending to and performing CPR on the victims shortly after the shooting.

Pirro revealed during the press conference that both of them, members of the West Virginia National Guard, had been sworn in just one day before they volunteered to serve in DC and were shot in the street.
