Over the summer, it was reported that FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino took a day off from work after a clash with Attorney General Pam Bondi over the handling of the Epstein files.
The blowup between Bondi and Bongino happened after the FBI and DOJ released a 2-page memo concluding Jeffrey Epstein did not have a “client list” and that he committed suicide.
“Bongino did not report to work Friday amid speculation about his whereabouts, said a source familiar with the perspectives of DOJ leaders who also believes that Bongino is considering leaving,” NBC News reported.
“This came after a confrontation Wednesday at a meeting with Bondi and White House chief of staff Susie Wiles during which Bongino and Patel were asked about a news story suggesting they were dissatisfied with the decision not to release any additional Epstein files, according to the source familiar with the perspectives of DOJ leaders and an additional source familiar with the meeting,” NBC News said in July.
According to some reports, Bongino took a whole week off work after the Epstein file blow-up.
It was also previously reported that Dan Bongino was considering resigning if Bondi stayed at the Department of Justice.
Last month it was reported by MS NOW that Kash Patel is on ‘thin ice’ and may be ousted soon. The outlet also reported that top FBI official Andrew Bailey is in line to take Kash Patel’s place.
“President Donald Trump is considering removing Kash Patel as FBI director in the coming months, as he and his top aides have grown increasingly frustrated by the unflattering headlines Patel has recently generated, according to three people with knowledge of the situation who requested anonymity in order to speak freely,” MS NOW reported.
“Patel has come under scrutiny for his stewardship of bureau resources, including his girlfriend’s security detail and use of a government jet, and for his squabbles with other Trump loyalists,” the outlet reported.
President Trump personally shut down MS NOW’s report claiming Kash Patel is on ‘thin ice.’
“Are you planning to replace Kash Patel” a reporter asked Trump.
“Kash Patel? No! He’s doing a great job!” Trump said en route to Mar-a-Lago last month.
