Fox News reports that the U.S. has launched an attack in Syria against ISIS targets.

John Scott reports, “It’s the second time the U.S. military has launched air strikes against (the) Islamic State in Syria since December 19th to avenge the killing of two Iowa National Guard soldiers and their American interpreter.”

The strikes come as U.S. Special Envoy for Syria Tom Barrack said he met in Damascus with Syria’s new leadership to discuss the country’s future. “Today, on behalf of President Donald J. Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, I met with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani, and members of their team in Damascus,” Barrack wrote.

Barrack said the talks focused on “recent developments in Aleppo and the broader path forward for Syria’s historic transition,” adding that the United States “welcomes Syria’s historic transition and extends its support to the Syrian government under President Ahmed al-Sharaa.”

Special Envoy Barrack shared details of the meeting on X.

The Gateway Pundit reported that multiple American service members were injured during an ambush in Syria on December 15, which left two soldiers and an interpreter dead.

The Iowa National Guard shared the identities in a press release stating, “In accordance with Department of War release authority, the Iowa National Guard is releasing the names of two Soldiers who were killed in an enemy attack on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2025, in Palmyra, Syria.”

“The deceased Soldiers are Sgt. William Nathaniel Howard, 29, of Marshalltown, Iowa, and Sgt. Edgar Brian Torrestovar, 25, of Grimes, Iowa. Both were members of the Ist Squadron, 113th Cavalry Regiment.”
